  Sounds like a wire broke down on the bottom. I have one also and I've noticed
that the center conductor of the 75 ohm jumper tends to break once in a while.
Which would make the whole antenna deaf as a doorknob.

  Only other things I can think of, check the hardware for the caps, because
sometimes those little screws back themselves out and drop out. Or, this has
also happened to me, one or more of the doorknob caps blows open, where
it still looks okay but it doesn't work. You can check that with a good DVM.
