Hi all!!

Took everyone's advice and got a slug for my bird. Had to fix the meter (bad cable), but that's another story!

Found that the swr wasn't as bad as the RS meter said. Without dressing the cables the swr was around 2:1 over a 20 MHz chunk of spectrum.
Dressing the cables made a big change. Made two series of measurements testing this. Dressing the cables in at 90' angles and running them along the mast made a huge difference. SWR at freq of interest (438MHz) is 1.3:1. I'll live with that! Got a nice plot with a definite minima.

Question: Why would the forward power output change with configuration of the cables? I'm assuming that the load impedance is changing.

I do have nice excel plots if anyone is interested in perusing the data.

Thanks for the help!!
