[Antennas] HF aerial suggestions

        Can I pick your collective brain for a suggestion for a base station 
HF aerial.  A local elmer told me recently that there is a long running 
debate between fans of wire vs. pole design.  As a relatively new ham I have 
not read much about the debate beyond a brief mention in my Technician exam 
study guide.

        I would like to mount the aerial on a 2nd story roof, in a fairly 
windy part of the country.  So something that can be mounted and not require 
regular maintenance is prefered.

        Suggestions for articles and books on aerial design are also 
welcome.
