[Antennas] Connectors on LMR-400

I have never used LMR-400 coax before and have a question about 
installing PL-259 connectors. Do I remove the Al shield from the foam 
that slides into the connector body. Or do I just leave it on and slide 
the body over the AL and under the braid?
