[Antennas] Graphite Fishing Rod

A friend of mine had an accident with his graphite fishing rods - managed to break about 50 cm off the tip of both rods while fastening them to his vehicle after a competition. He has given then to me - they were 12 feet in length, now about 10 feet.

Can these rods be used for antennas? I see there is a sticker on each rod warning about electrical conductivity and not fishing/angling when lightening is around, and beware of power lines.

I was looking at the rods, with ideas for a vertical antenna for a field day type station. Tune it up with a Z100 tuner and operate using the FT-817.

I wonder .......
