Neil,
I don't have any suggestions on poles. However, I would suggest you take a
look at the HyGain HA-4000 Tape measure antenna. Pictures and description
can be found at N2CKZ's web site:

I have had one of these for many years and it is a great portable antenna.
It fits in an average tool box. I am currently using mine on 6M mounted in
the attic in an Inverted V configuration. It makes a great field day
antenna. It covers 80-10M and the tapes are labeled in meters, making it
easy to configure before raising to operating level. They make a great
inverted V antenna.
They are scarce to obtain, but a 40-10M version can readily be home brewed
using two 100ft tape measures mounted on a board or plastic center piece.
