Yeah soooo many variables ya know?
Height above the ground,
Number of radials,,?
say you were 20 feet up with the 4 wire groundplane on 80,
and you were "X" db weaker than the "Other guy" with the ground mounted
system.
Now as in the ground mounted system say he has the "Standard" 120
radials, but you only have 4, what happens if you went to 8 or 16 etc?
There must be a reason for your weaker signal.
Takeoff angle different? maybe?
Ground losses no matter what are gonna be different. But in what way?
How about this not too for an idea?
of course the losses are at their greatest closer to the base and
feedpoint of the antenna true? Yes,,
So how about the feedpoint is elevated "X" feet, and the radials 4 ,,
8,, whatever come off from this at a drooping angle to that theends are
at ground level , and are in fact acting as guy lines also for the setup..
This would provide stability, and in addition the drooping of the
radials should raise the impedance of the antenna also true/
what everyone thoughts here?
