I've already deleted the original post but let me chime in with a "me too".

My MFJ-993 is perhaps a year old with no failures or other problems.
There was nothing to repair "out-of-the-box". It has worked first time
and every time at 100 watts tied to an IC-746.

I use a 75 meter dipole fed with ladder line and it will make a match
from 75 to 10 meters without fail. If you leave the DC on it remembers
previous settings. A new frequency is just a button push to tune.

I originally tied the 993 to DC from the IC-746 but that let the
backlight dim more than I liked so its tied now to the main station
power supply.

I've got several other tuners to play with but the 993 gets the most use.

I guess the best testimonial is that I have never regretted buying it!

Good luck with whatever you decide.
