[Antennas] sat ant question

my wife and I are looking at some property in Tenn,  Google Earth 
says its about 2000ft above sea level. I'm guess thats good for my 
new GENERAL class ticket.... but one thing I saw on the property I 
know nothing about....It's a BIG BLACK SAT TV ant. Now I know they 
were used along time ago, but  are they used today for 
anything?  Should I keep it, or is it so old and out dated, that I 
should tear it down and put something else in it's place?   Just 
curious to see if maybe HAMS use that band now?  Thanks for the help.
