Link coupled finals using vacuum tubes predate solid state finals, most 
if not
all of which use Band Pass networks.  My gut feeling is that the link tuning
capacitor will be noticeable when your antenna tuner is fed the old way.
You may find that the link capacitor should be tuned for maximum link 
current,
or maximum power to the antenna, and it may not be a factor in the value 
of SWR
if the tuner is properly adjusted.
