[Antennas] Quiet horizontal loop?

In reading articles and comments regarding horizontal loop antennas
frequently the comment about being QUIET antenna pops up. There was never a followup
of why it is quiet. Looking at the typical lobe patterns it appears that one
reason might be the fact there is generally there is a large null vertically.
In many cases local noise is high angle with exception of storms over the
horizon.

I would suspect the fact that the lack of static buildup on the antenna
could play a role in some small way but not as significant as the former.

I would appreciate some clarification. (By the way I do realize the
relationship of cut frequency and operating frequency and height above ground for the
horizontal loop affects the lobe pattern)

Thank you
