[Antennas] re:Coax Balun

Many thanks for all the replies. The reason I was looking at this is 
because I have the coax and I dont have the toroid to wind a wire one 
and was looking at possibly not having to purchase one  hi hi.
I remeber seeing an article at one time so am working from memory.  By 
winding several turns of coax on a former, it basically forms a bifilar 
winding and then connection the centre of one end to the braid at the 
other end the same as you do with a bifilar wound toroid you sorta 
finish up with a 4:1 balun being only two windings,
or am I looking at this all screwed up ??
Sounds like I might have to go find an outlet that has the toroids and 
wind a wire one after all.
