W4RNL'S web site has plenty of antenna designs for 6m.....If you want to do
a simple dipole but not use wire, you can get the Hamstick dipole adaptor
(or similar) and buy from Radio Shack two of their 102" or 96" whips..(they
still carry them..I have two on storage right now). Cut them down for 6 and
make a dipole...or even a turnstile (takes 4 and two adaptors)..for use over
50.0-50.8, a turnstile will maintain its pattern (but farther out, it wont!
as Cebik's site will show).
www.cebik.com/radio is the his site for antennas, etc. Scroll down for
Practical Antenna Notes: VHF/UHF (Mainly) and enjoy the reading ;)
Also you can buy a PAR for omni use and build a 4 element yagi for 6m on a
10ft boom...I did decades ago...elements out of 1/2in EMT and thru the
elements with U clamps from Radio Shack for mounting...a simple Gamma match
and viola! It worked pretty damn good for 15 yr old building it.
On 6, you can build antennas that don't empty the pocket and are easy to
work with and experiment with..and to me, that's half the fun of 6m!
