[Antennas] Can we talk about WLAN antennas here?

There was an article somewhere that the frequencies used by 2.4 GHz WLAN
exist as a secondary assignment (amateur radio is primary) in our
2.390 -2450 GHz ham band.

Which means that if you have a Technician or higher amateur radio license
you could use 1.5 kW output with a WLAN unit if you could :-)

I think the article was in July "QST" 2006 - the most recent issue I
received.

Since WLAN code is "published" or known and it is on that frequency anyway
as a seconday authorization, I don't see any reason you couldn't use 10 watt
amplifier after your WLAN hub and a directional or gain antenna and preamp
on your tower. Non hams could "check in" to your WLAN if you wanted them
to - just like any person could go over your house and call CQ on your 2
meter FM rig if you allowed them. You'd be the control operator and you
could identify by assiging the node your callsign.

Can we talk about WLAN antennas here?

I don't see why not. I am a HAM...and we all learn good things here
regardless of area of application...right?

Well I had an old laptop which had a card which had an antenna jack to
extend the range. I used it with a smallantenna outside because I can then
connect to my nighborhood while inside my aluminum-siding home. The small
antenna I used was just to overcome the coax loss at 2.4 gigahertz.

FINALLY, THE QUESTION...
My new laptop has the same problem but no antenna jack to add an outside
antenna, so,...
1) Has anyone ideas about how to boost the antenna in these new ones? I
suspect the antenna is in the flip-up screen's enclosure.

2) Maybe an antenna outside and an equivalent of an antenna inside and
near to the laptop?

Anyone tried to do this and perhaps been successful ...before I begin to
explore home made hardware answers?
