[Antennas] How to ask a question of the list.

I think what David N1EA and others are saying that if you ask a question it
should be complete. My time offering suggestions (as some others) was wasted
because the author appears to have been looking for a particular response. I
often do this with my wife. I will be thinking intently on a subject and ask
her a question not realizing at the time she was not privy to the thought
process before hand and as the Washington State motto goes: SAY WA?
We all do this but hopefully sharing the private emails it will make a point
clear about being specific in your questions, but also there is a lot of
behind the scenes chatter too.
I know I from time to time will be in a hurry and so I try to correct
myself and hopefully getting better with time.
REMEMBER this is a hobby

Not quite enough information to offer a good suggestion:
---is this to be left up or taken down each time?
---roof, patio, back yard area?
---What bands?
An end fed wire using a stealth black 26 gauge wire of about 33ft would get
you 40m +. See #532 at http://thewireman.com/antennap.html
There is the Buddi-Pole that offers portability and a variety of
arrangements. http://www.buddipole.com/
Indoor dipoles work generally well running along the floor or ceiling and
then run the ends the height of the wall
If you can put up a portable vertical and take it down there is the 20ft or
33ft telescoping fish pole support for a vertical
Here are a collection of homebrew and commercial stealth antennas

2nd floor
48'x27' flat tar and gravel roof
two 3'x3' heat pumps next to each other
centered on both of the 27' sides
to be permanently installed on the 2nd floor roof
max height allowable off the roof is 36" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will be allowed to rotate it
40m mainly
tunable and used on 30m will be a plus
I already have the best ant for tx efficiency that I can get
for the situation the landlord will allow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that is my 12' tall bugcatcher
end of that discussion please!
problem is:
the bugcatcher is bad news for receive on 40m
high noise floor S-9
not the type noise a noise blanker will touch
I need something that I can rotate to null out these other noise(s) I hear
in
addition to the noise floor
I don't think a rotatable 3' tall loop will do the trick
plus it would be extremely hard to use as a tx ant
if its a dipole and transmits also,
that's a plus, but
since it will shortened, and inefficient
(7' on a leg not 33') (think hamstick)
I don't really think I care if it will load and tx
then again? who knows?
I figure the max end to end I will be able to do
and have it rotate
will be about 20'
probably less
10' of stainless whip would have enough droop to be almost on the roof at
the ends
2 hamsticks for 40m would be 14' end to end
have a null off the ends
and would load on 40m for tx
even if terribly inefficient
PLEASE.......
no wires
no, try this to get around the land lords rules, stuff
stay working within the 36" height limit
and the limited space roof
horizontal polarization
rotatable
comments?

One question. Are you able to run ladder line or flat 300 ohm tv line or are
you limited to coax?
A friend of mine had a similar problem in a trailer park and he ended up
running a loop antenna around there periphery of the trailer roof up about a
foot. If you could run the tv feed line you might consider a loop of wire around
the outside of the roof edge. Alternatively you could run a 44 ft dipole
with the legs running 90 degrees apart.
Alternatively, especially if you have to run coax is to get a remote tuner
like SGC-237 or 239 and connect whatever wire you have hidden on the roof.
Working 40m short antennas are lossy so if possible the wire would be best since
you can't go high.
RECOMMENDATION: Work it out that you can try a few antennas before deciding
on which one. If you put up a bad design and don't have this option the
landlord may get tired of your requests.
Hope this helps
