Dear Danny,

The thing that has always irked me about the Johnson KW Matchbox is that
everyone wants you to believe that it can match anything, and it probably
does come close to than in unbalanced mode. However, it has been my
experience that in balanced mode it has very definite limitations on what it
can match.

I invariably end up with small, identical air core chokes in both sides of
the line, right at the tuner, that I can plug in or leave out, which get me
around the difficult impedances. My dear friend of over 60 years, Bill,
W9ERG, often ends up with a big transmitting Mica across the line at his
tuner terminals. So, the bottom line is that there are impedances that it
just won't tame without help.
