Question for the group. Last year, I built a excellent working 40/75
meter inverted vee designed by W8NX. It was called "An Improved
Multiband Trap Dipole Antenna". Again, it worked very well. My
complaint is the traps are made by wrapping two pieces of RG-59U coax on
a 5 in? PVC pipe about 6 in long. They look like milk cans up in the
sky! And you know the '59U changes drastically after a summer in the
sun. It's benefits are; short (about 81 ft long), and the whole
antenna radiates on each band. What I want to know is this, if I use
a button mica for the cap and I wind a coil in parallel to resonate on
the original trap's frequency (5.3 mhz) will the wire lengths stay about
the same? Or, will I be opening up a bucket of worms. And help
appreciated. Oh, I do have a bad space problem here. Thanks, Ron K6ZL
