There have been many responses to this one. I just thought I would mention
what I use in case it may be of some use to someone.
My shack is on the second story of my house. On the other side of the wall
stands an 80 foot tower which is well grounded. I have one end of a 135'
dipole up about 40', the other end is up a tree in the back corner of my
property. I feed the dipole with ladder line and bring the line right in
through the wall where it is connected to my Tuner. So if you can visualize
this so far, the feeder and antenna itself are mostly all running in the
same direction. The feeder starts about 15' above ground at the tuner. For
160, I feed the whole thing against ground. My ground in this case is the
80' tower and 9 ground rods on radial legs extending away from the base of
the tower. It works well.
