only problem I had with my KT34xa was when one of the crossed  phasing straps 
 cracked  at the  anchor hole. ( I spliced in a  piece and redrilled)    But 
that threw the swr into a tizzy.  
 
I would  check all joints on the affected band  for tightness and mechanical 
problems  with them. There are so many joints I gotta think   something 
loosened and  vibration from the wind  changed the length.  
 
But what a wonderful antenna.  I miss it.  Mine was  at 58 ft and helped me 
win high school  in WNY and Ohio in several DX  Tests.  It outperformed a  3 el 
top of the line tribander at 100  ft  by half to one S unit into various 
European and African countries in a  side by side tests a few years ago.
