I have heard that many times from many people....

Never seen it happen.......

Have an antenna at 60 feet (measured at the base) for 12-10. That is well over 1/2 wave. 
Shows excellent low angle radiation....Too low for most of my local work. Works best 
beyond 300 miles or with in 10 miles. Work Japan on 10 all the time, S-9 reports, 35W. 
South Pacific Quite often with the same reports. Almost any where in the US (when some 
one is on).
