...you can't, directly. The reason is that the half wave dipole is
presenting a very high impedance at the outer ends, which no sane tuner can
handle. What you can do is add a quarter wave section, i.e. make it 3/4
wavelength long. this section act as an impedance inverter: when connected
to a high impedance point, it presents a low impedance at the opposite end
which then connects to the tuner. This setup should work far better as far
as the tuner is concerned.
