What's important is to GET OUT!!
Open feeders are known for their low losses. Soooo, whatever you do, at
least you know feeder losses don't come into play.
One thing you can think of is the offset feed dipole, aka FD4 antenna,
miscalled Windom. That one presents more reasonable impedances on the
amateur bands and can be fed with a balun and coax practically on all bands.
Even the 6:1 balun they recommend is quite easily made at home. I'm right
now in the process of modifying my doublet to the offset feed.
