Alan,
I believe you mentioned straight sections of tubing
for your Yagi elements as opposed to tapered. In the ARRL
Antenna Book (reference 19th edition), it talks about
calculating the tapered length using Dave Leeson, W6NL's
software. Dave has a book, Physical Design of Yagi
Antennas, that addresses this issue.
As for the gamma match, there is an excellent article
in the May/June 1999 issue of QEX by G4JNH, Ron Barker, "A
New Look at the Gamma Match."
