These are the responses I gor regarding multiband radials.....
I did ask Newtronics if they had any info on the design of the multiband
radial
that appears in their brochure and they replied that they did not know,
just
that it was done cut and try. The jury is still out as to what I'll
eventually end up
doing..

...what I did was to use some telephone house wiring (it has 4 insulated
wires inside and I cut one for each band) . Should be about 5% longer
than a
quarter wavelength (not supercritical). If the antenna is elevated (about
25
feet or more you shouldn't need more than about 4 radials.

>> I asked Alex about the telephone house wiring and he responded:
...yes. Actually there are 2 twisted pairs in one common outer shell.
Short
the ends close to the antenna and cut the far ends each for one band of
interest. Don't forget that a radial also resonates at odd harmonics, so
that with judicious cots you can cover quite a few bands.

I used the Butternut design with both Butternut (HF-6V & HF-9V) and
Hy-Gain (14AVQ) verticals. With Butternuts, adding one 80-meter radial
gave very good SWR over a limited ( 50 KHz)) tuning range.

Don,
Your best bet, if it is for a Butternut Vertical, is to use the formula
246/F in MHz for 1/4 wave radials and run 2 each for 40, 20, 10 mtrs.
15M will be covered with the 40M radials. Use the frequency the antenna
is tuned to lowest SWR as your F in the formula. I had to lay my 40 and
80M radials in a dogleg pattern in my very small back yard. Also used
with good success is 4,6, or 8 25 ft radials with my HF7V. I use this
arrangement in my portable set up. Radials are all set directly on the
ground or buried, depending on where the dogs have been running the most.
Good Luck, God Bless

I have used only 4 60ft radials on an 80-10m vertical (that was NOT
ground
mounted) and it worked great..
Made all the SWR/bandwidth specs as per the manual too!
