[Antennas] phased 18AVQ info

Does anyone have any practical experience in phasing a pair of 18AVQs? I 
would like to be able to (if practical) provide 90 degree directional 
control (E-W  or N-S), and most of the info I see on the web has some 
elaborate continuous phasing control electronics, which I don't need.

Practical experiences (good and bad!) with simple 2-element phased 
verticals would be very useful. I have enough land to space them however 
they need to be. Bands of interest are only 80 and 40, and I'd settle for 
decent directional capability on only one of those two (I realize spacing 
is of importance).
