I see no point in imagining the two capacitors being ganged together as that
is a meaningless configuration

Absolutely right, it depends on the impedances you want to match.

Never was I that lucky, although I did get lucky enough once to match a G5RV
on 1 MHz - have you ever been that lucky? Hi!
