Stated,

"All this traffic about buried coax getting wet has
me wondering about coax that is not buried.
Doesnt it get wet too? I know mine does. At
least when it rains. Sometimes it rains very hard
and the stuff gets drippy wet. Of course it is
not buried. Come to think of it, if it were
buried, it might not get near as wet."

Just a thought.

Amen Frank,

I agree. Outdoor coax leads a much tougher life than does buried! The
outer layer of insulation on good coax is very much water proof and is
almost indestructible. I have used my buried coax for the past 14 years
here in Iowa, buried right into the ground with no protection whatever.
It is not direct burial type. The SWR has never changed one bit, even on
10 meters. The far end is sealed off and the shack end is left open to
breath in dry air. I run 1500 watts CW everyday.
