Since we have jumped started our thoughts lets further consider. If we 
connect a voltmeter across an "open"  (close to an infinite impedance) in a 
circuit (not unlike a series filament string) what is the voltage? (Assuming 
the circuit is energized).  Wouldn't an antenna circuit with a trap be 
similar and there would be indeed be a voltage across the trap when 
considering the complete circuit (the radiator to free space and earth)??
