[Antennas] Coaxial Sleeve Dipole

Actually, the antenna described here is more commonly termed a "coaxial
dipole." One half of the radiating element is a tube or rod fed by the coax
center conductor while the other half is a length of tubing fed from the
coax braid but with the coax run up inside the tube to the feedpoint, as Jay
described. These antennas were widely used after WW2 as I recall for local
communications on ten meters.

An "open sleeve dipole" or "sleeved dipole" is a different animal. Instead
of trying to describe it, let me just take the easy way out and refer you to
the 20th Edition of the ARRL Antenna Book which describes the antenna in
detail. I believe that I have seen it described in older editions as well.
The antenna was invented in 1946, by the way. This feed method was used on
at least on HY-Gain Yagi beam.
