[Antennas] DK9SQ LOOP Question

I just picked up a used DK9SQ LOOP and noted to my surprise its feed point  
is to one of the horizontal corners (square loop rotated 90 degrees). Looking 
at  a rough EZNEC DEMO model it appears that if bottom or top fed, the gain is  
almost double this arrangement. Does anyone have any operating experiences 
with  this antenna?
 
I am sure the designer has arrived at this configuration based upon good  
principles, however...

For those who are  unfamiliar with this antenna it is basically a diamond 
shape 10m loop installed  on a 33ft mast. On 20 and 15m it is a closed loop and 
on 40 and 10m the loop is  opened opposite the feed  point
