The article only pertained to 27MHZ CB.....and is not 100% correct....
IF the antenna is correctly matched, then yes any length of coax to the
radio will work...BUT IF the antenna is reactive or not 50ohms, the
wrong length of coax will give you wrong readings at the radio.....a 1/2
wl (or multiple) will show the correct readings...
IF you tune the antenna AT the antenna, then any length of coax will
work if the coax is the proper impedance...
Antenna -> coax -> radio
50ohms -> 50ohms -> 50 ohms.....ok....
75ohms -> 50ohms -> 50 ohms......not good but will work....Coax loss
increases due to SWR
60ohms +20j -> 50ohms-> 50ohms same as above PLUS will not show accurate
SWR at the radio....the ANTENNA needs to be tuned in this example.
