Glenn, connected upstream of an I.C.E. coax lightning arrestor, and bonded
to the station ground, my MFJ-994 ATU doesn't mind a half dozen strikes
within 100' (so far). Not sure how it would have faired up there at the
feedpoint. So I wouldn't say it's any more vulnerable than other equipment
in the station, and given the proper bonding and surge protection, that's
manageable risk.
