[Antennas] Loop inside a loop TX antenna ???

Hi All,

I've been using a homebrewed vertical HF (20 meters) diamond loop for 
about 2 years now with very good results.
Yesterday while watching an old maritime B&W movie with a the vertical 
multi loop antenna on the ship center mast, I wondered, would a similar 
design perfom better than the single loop as I'm using ?

I checked several publications for information on loop inside a loop 
antennas, the ARRL handbook has a similar configuration but for RX only.

Does anyone have any information on vertical loop inside a loop 
transmit antenna ??
