Hi all,
Have put up another tower next to the garage (wood) and insulated the base
and the support
to the garage. Tower is Universal 40ft alum. and has 8ft alum mast w/6mtr
and 2mtr beams
on it. Have abt 12 misc length radials in ground around it in 3directions.
Measured the ant at different freq as below measured at the base with an
Autek VA-1:
MHz SWR Rs Xs
3.218 2.0:1 65 -35
3.600 1.1:1 50 4
3.930 2.0:1 52 36
9.250 2.0:1 68 -37
9.440 1.4:1 70 -10
9.770 2.0:1 96 10
1.800 7.5:1 34 97
1.850 8.1:1 38 108
1.900 8.2:1 45 121
1.950 8.1:1 56 134
2.000 7.0:1 78 143
The 9meg freq listing is just the next lowest swr point up from 3.5 reading.
I have and am starting on the EZNEC program but just starting to learn.
Will have feed thru garage wall to tuner on other side. Then coax to house.
Questions are:
1. What do the reading tell me about the ant possibilities? Want to
consider 160, 80, &40.
2. From some of my experiences seems like on 80 need more/longer radials.
3. For 160 assume (I know bad thing to do) either loading coil/tuner or can
string
for inverted L.
4. If inverted L, how long min.? and any benefit to looooong wire as have
plenty of
room here for wire. Abt 38 acres.
5. Have also main tower abt 100 ft away from this tower and is 60ft with
WARC tribander and
std 20, 15, & 10 mtr tribander on it.
6. Have to stay at least 10ft off ground level with wires in horizontal
plane because this
is in our apple orchard and tractor and sprayers have to travel thru rows.
7. Know what you are thinking and havn't got there yet. Put Beverages down
the tops of the
apple trees. That is one of the next steps and questions later on that.
8. On 40 assume just use tuner to where required.
9. Mainly a DXer but starting to do some contesting. Don't worry won't be
any threat!! HI..
10. Open to comments, answers, and/or suggestions.
Tnx guys for all the inputs and help on this reflector. I have learned a lot.
I/we appreciate it.
