Don't blame you Ed for looking for another source for "egg" type insulators.
The glass/ceramic are priced pretty high.

I have a Moxon antenna for 40 meters which I also use on 20 meters that uses
those black cheapie plastic egg type (fail-safe) insulators. I got the
insulators at the local ag feed store. They come in bags of ten and are
very reasonable. They are available here in black and yellow. I have a bag
of yellow ones in front of me and the following information I am taking from
the plastic bag.

Zareba, Red Snap'r smart system for animal control, 10 heavy duty corner
post electric fence insulators. Designed for quick and easy installation.
For use with all wire sizes and types. U.V. protected to resist weathering.
Guarenteed against defects in material and manufacture. Made in U.S.A.

Zareba Systems, Ellendale, MN 56026.

I can't make out the price but they are cheeeeeep when compared to the
ceramics.
