Need your input and benefit of your knoledge and experience.
I plan to install a tiltable HF vertical (Hustler 6BTV) on top of my 40 foot motorcoach. I plan to stand it up when stationary and tilt it over while in motion.
My question to the reflector has to do with radial system for the vertical. naturally, conventional 1/4 wave radials fanned out around the base of the vertical will not be practical.
My thoughts are to substitute shortened radials such as RESONANT HAMSTICK TYPE ANTENNAS around the base that I can install with quick disconnects when I raise the vertical. The hamsticks will be resonant , but will they offer an effective radial or ground plane system to the vertical?
I can use multiconductor wires for radials up to 40 feet long on the top of the coach, but I will need shortened radials to each side and rear of the coach thus the idea of the hamsticks or hustler mobile antennas for radials. Do you think this setup could be modeled against and in comparison to the conventional resonant radial system recommended with two quarter wave radials for each band?
What are your thoughts on my dreamed up Rube Goldberg radial sustem. Your thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks and 73, John, K5PGW
