Could you use copper tubing? I know you will face a couple of problems with
matching plus the added weight of copper but that could work. Another
suggestion is Brass or aluminum rod from your local metal supply house. Skip the
hardware and hobby shop route and go right to the source. I know I could buy 20
ft lengths of brass or aluminum rod direct from Tull Metal supply here in Jax,
FL years ago when I was working for an industrial supply house. That could
be another source as well. Grainger Supply, Indusco, some of the bulk nuts,
bolts and screw houses carry rod as well. I would call around to a couple of
welding shops and see if they can help you as far as who to call for bulk metal
in your area.
