Hello Sean. Looked at the QSTs and found one that you might be interested
in. It is June 2002 QST page 28. It does not speak about the AH4 tuner.
However, if you have the real estate, you can build a loop antenna and feed
it with coax without a tuner and have good results on the band you want to
use. It is better if you feed it with balanced line and use a tuner. No
matter which route you take, if you are planning on having your loop antenna
up in the trees more than a year, you should use some good uv resistant rope
like dacron (olive green), or such. Other ropes will part due to the uv
from the sun. I have an 80 meter square loop up in the pine trees. It is
still up there and will work great with my AH4 or a manual tuner. Very low
noise, a great antenna, you just have to get the ends over the trees. I
used a slingshot with fishing line and then a pull string. If I can be of
help, please send me an e-mail. Good luck on your project, Dave, NC6P.
