I bought a on glass 2m/440 Larsen antenna from the local ham dealer. I was
told that as long as I didn't have dark tinted glass I'd be okay. Upon
getting home and reviewing the instructions, they say not to install on
"passivated glass". My glass has the marking "Solar-Ray" on it (in fact
EVERY window has this marking). Looking on the web, "Solar-Ray" appears to
be passivated glass.
Has anyone used a on glass antenna on this type of window? If so, with what
impact to your receive and transmit signals?
If this is not recommended, what new car DOESN'T come with passivated glass?
Not that I'll get a new one, I just don't think any of then do.
I looked at trunk mount antennas, but they said to turn the mounting screws
hard enough to "break through the paint". I'm not really ready to do that on
the new car.
What other recommendations for 2m/440 antennas for a 4-door sedan?
Thanks,
