Elliot- I found the controls, too, long after I had muted the sound. It was 
so loud it wound have awakened anyone in the same room; it DID wake the cat.
I object to the intrusion of sound with no notice or choice the same way I 
object to flashing Banner Ads. It is selfish and impolite, and Ego-driven 
and is not related to the subject of the list
