[Antennas] short continuously loaded vertical question

Hello, thinking of building a shortened vertical using pvc pipe as a form
(10 feet) and winding it with 12 gauge stranded insulated wire 9 feet or so
(255'), then stringing out four radials say 32' long.  I have an Icom AH4
tuner that I would tune this with. Have been reading in the ARRL Antenna
Book and it says to use a disc at the top to eliminate coronas.  This is
just an experiment, I would probably only use this as a portable antenna to
take while out in the woods.  So, I was wondering if anyone out there has
ever built something like this and if so, what were the results?  Thank you,
