are you a dxer or general operator?

if it's your only ant. verticals are a good choice. small space and appearance

if you're a dxer like me a yagi is best if you can put up a tower,etc. on 40 
mtrs i use an n4gg array. 120' center fed dipole with 1/4 wave vertical ends. 
it's supported by a 40' tower on each end.it runs circles around dipoles and 
verticals. my hustler vertical isn't even close.i have been able to hold my own 
 against  the yagis.
just put up a low [40'] 80 mtr half square. i'll find out this winter if it  
beats my inverted vee at 50'.
