I agree with all the comments made so far. If you can stand the $$ and don't 
mind the extra work, it will last forever. But it is in fact a 1/4 wave 
vertical.

One note on 160M operation.......

Hy-Gain used to sell another kit (not the base loading coil kit) to put the 
antenna on 160M that does not have the high power arcing problems at the top 
insulator. I believe it was a MK-160, but I'd have to locate my notes to be 
sure.

It was a trap that was installed on top of the tower sections and a 
horizontal wire that ran away from the antenna making it an Inverted L. Basically, up 
24 feet and out approx.110 feet. Perhaps not the best V to H ratio, but 
workable and capable of high power. A homebrew trap could be built to do the same 
thing.

In my case, I did not need the Hy-Tower on 40, so just attached the wire 
directly to the top of the tower sections while still maintaining the center wire 
and top whip on 80.

Radials a must of course.
