Hi Steve,

I have owned and used both. For antenna tuning I found the 259B easier to 
use. Both units have digital readouts but the additional analog meters on 
the 259B are, for me, more convenient for antenna tuning. Additionally, MFJ 
also provides calibration/alignment procedures for the 259B on their web 
site whereas with the RF-1 you must send it back to the manufacture for 
re-calibration. The main feature of the RF-1 is its smaller size. Nether 
are lab instruments.

For what it worth I sold my RF-1.
