Greetings all,

At my home QTH, I have a 40/20 meter vertical which I constructed from copper
pipe and which works quite well.

It consists of a 4" X 4" 11' post sunk in the ground a couple of feet which
has the antenna mounted to it with insulating standoffs.

The radiating elements on 40 consist of ten foot sections of 1" + 3/4" +
1/2" + an additonal 2' of 1/2" - all copper pipe. The different sizes are
connected together with threaded adapters for ease in erecting. The bottom of the
1" section has a threaded adapter which connents to a PVC threaded adapter to
act as a base insulator. The 40 meter radiator is guyed at 20' with some black
antenna cord from HRO to keep the thing from being bent in a strong wind.

The 20 meter antenna is connected in parallel with the 40 meter radiator and
is 16' of 1/2" copper pipe held by standoffs to the 40 meter radiator.

Finally, there are 4 radials for 40 and 4 radials for 20 meters. The
antennas are fed in parallel with RG-58 which has a balun coil wound on the feed line
32' from the feed point.

The SWR is low on both bands and also on 15 meters. Only complaint is
receiver overload on 40 meters due to the SW BC stations at night. I have to use an
attenuator on 40 then to use efficiently.

Try it, you might like it!
