Harvey,
  I have both antennas up. Yestrday, on 15m  switched  both antennae for the 
european and asian stations. There was 3 to 5 S units degradation with the 
inverted vee.
  Suggest you look at your modeling  net list again, there is something 
seriously wrong.
   The horizontal wire needs to be at least 15' off the ground, otherwse the 
ground effect will throw the resonant frequency about 400 kc out of the 
band, on 40m. Like most loops it is a lot quieter than the inv vee, but dont 
tell anyone, I dont need the qrm competition on the dx bands.

As I pointed out in my reply to Ron, he has changed from horizontal 
(inverted vee) to
vertical (loop) polarization. Except over a perfectly conducting earth, this 
will
drastically reduce the efficiency of the antenna unless it has an extensive 
ground plane
(radials) under it.
