I've been using the AH-4 and its forerunner the AH-2
for many years in dipole and long wire configurations.
Also various setups on Field Day. Always use a balun,
1:1 prefered, and either open wire or ladder line to
a 120 or 170 foot dipole. Both work real well in my
Ranger and in my Tarus. They work with coax is you
have a coax-fed beam or dipole or something. I've had
no problem while camping, or on the road, and needed a
better antenna. Just flang a wire up in a tree and use
the vehicle for a ground if no wire fences, fire plugs,
or water faucetts are available. I'm not too keen about
using gas pipes or AC power boxes, but I have done it.
Also, I fixed my Kenwood TS-940 to run with the AH-2.
