[Antennas] Building A Tuner

Hi All,
I have been looking at high power antenna tuners and also read the recent
review in QST with interest. I would like to have a high quality L net
tuner but don't like the prices of such as the Nye Viking or even the Tentec
238B. I have thought I might like to build a tuner of my own.
The problem for me is I need to get some pointers to some good articles and
discussions of the pros and cons of various networks such as Z, L and T. I
also would like to find some guidance as to whether air variable caps or
vacuum variables are best in such an application and approximate values of
inductors to use. I know there are some good articles and information in
such as the ARRL antenna book and hand book but I am totally blind and these
don't seem to be available in alternative formats.
Can anyone on the net point me to some references which might help and which
are available electronically? I would certainly appreciate any such help or
any suggestions you on the list wish to give me regarding construction of
such a beast.
Thanks very much and 73.
Kevin, K7RX :)
