[Antennas] questions

I hadn't tested that setup yet, but I quickly did. Grabbed a piece of
RG-58 lying around and quickly wound a 6 turn 6" dia coil. If I attach
the braid on both ends to my RF Analyst (using 2 inch leads), this is
what I measure:

    F Z
1.80 Mhz 130 Ohm
3.65 Mhz 293 Ohm
7.15 Mhz 1238 Ohm
14.20 Mhz 761 Ohm
29.00 Mhz 191 Ohm

Between 8.10 Mhz and 10.70 Mhz the Z reads 'H' (High), which means
higher than what the RF Analyst can measure.

Hope this helps...

How did this compare to the 6 turns of coax? What there the
measurements for that?

ldl- I measured a 10 bead
ldl- choke with my
ldl- Autek RF Analyst and it shows an impedance of a few
ldl- hundred to more than
ldl- a thousand ohm, depending on the frequency, so it should
ldl- work for this
ldl- purpose. And at a fraction of the price of a commercial balun!

ldl- I am getting ready to put up a Cushman A743 I picked up. The
ldl- instructions call for 6 loops of coax 6" in dia at the
ldl- antenna feed
ldl- point. I have heard it is better to slip some ferrites on the coax.
