Hustler antennas, for the HF range, tune the "stinger" by varying the BASE
(via a set-screw). It leaves the "ball" at the end of the stinger on the
END of the "stinger" to protect against putting out eyes, and in the case of
high-power operation, reducing the possibility of "corona".

For VHF/UHF antennas, there is a set-screw at the BASE of the antenna, and
the instructions clearly state that small sections should be cut from the
BASE of the antenna.
